A Unique Equestrian Destination...
It's worth the ride!

Paard Hill Farms in Shelter Island, New York is a state-of-the-art equestrian facility on 36 magnificent rolling acres overlooking Gardiner’s Bay. To preserve the exquisite views and protect the land from over development, owners Ellen Lear and Pieter Ruig donated 29 acres of their farm to The Peconic Land Trust, a non-profit land conservancy organization. These preserved acres constitute pasture land and riding trails.

Open since 2001, Paard Hill Farms is a multi-disciplinary facility. We offer professional instruction in dressage and jumping for the novice or serious competitor. Our lesson horses and ponies are carefully selected for their patience, comfort, talent, and kindness.

If you board your horse with us you can choose our premium full-service board or standard board options. Your horse will be lovingly and expertly cared for by our experienced staff and resident barn manager.

Pieter, who is Dutch, imports young KWPN Dutch Warmblood horses and raises them for eventual sale. His horses have won numerous regional and national awards and championships. You might be interested to know that Paard is Dutch for horse.

Please browse our website to see that every aspect of the health and welfare of horses and owners, from the design of the facility to its management, has been carefully thought out and implemented. Then give us a call.

We look forward to speaking with you!
